The rapid advances in generative artificial intelligence are impressive, but another game changer in digitalization is already on the horizon: quantum computers. This revolutionary technology utilizes the special properties of quantum physics and offers potential computing power that exceeds today's supercomputers many times over.
Although quantum computers are still at the development stage, they could become a reality in just a few years. A “quantum internet” would then also be possible. The broad range of applications for quantum computers is enabling rapid progress in many areas, including medicine, logistics, aerospace and cryptography.
The FERI Cognitive Finance Institute has been intensively monitoring and analyzing the phenomenon of quantum computing since 2019. In light of recent breakthroughs, it seems appropriate to shed new light on the latest state of the technology, but also to clearly demonstrate its disruptive potential.
